A little bit about me

I’ve spent over 10 years in the advertising industry working my way up from a designer to creative director. Followed by another decade freelancing under my commercial photographer and creator pseudonym @mrwhisper. Both roles share a common palette of skills that blend the artistic and the strategic. They demand a keen eye for visual storytelling, an acute sense of composition, and the ability to convey emotions through imagery.

I’m now looking to return to agency life and I’m excited to explore new senior creative opportunities or territories that will embrace and leverage my unconventional career path.

I'm a firm believer in the power change through bold ideas, exquisite execution, and leveraging the most effective channels to connect with target audiences. I thrive on strategic thinking, diving headfirst into briefs from their inception. I have an insatiable curiosity for what's cutting-edge and relevant in today's world of advertising and marketing.

Experienced in social, digital, branding, on and offline content strategy and 360 campaigns. I thrive on solving genuine problems and bringing ideas to life. I’m well versed in getting in front of clients and selling innovative and complex work.

  • At Mr Whisper Studios I work with everyone from globally recognised brands to individual people to help them connect and engage with their audiences.

My primary focus centers on conceptualising and executing social-first campaigns. With a deep understanding of the dynamic landscape of social media, I leverage my expertise to craft engaging and impactful campaigns that resonate with target audiences. From ideation to implementation, I bring a unique blend of creative direction and professional photography to ensure that each campaign captures the essence of the brand and connects seamlessly with the digital audience.

Specialising in visual storytelling through photography and short form video. I’ve been documenting the people of London for over a decade with my camera. The Evening Standard characterised the Mr Whisper brand as ‘encapsulating London’s ‘most human moments’, a sentiment that I hope rings true when viewing my images.

Alongside the campaigns, I’m commissioned to conduct talks, workshops, seminars, masterclasses and photo walks.

I’m extremely proud to have been appointed a Fujifilm UK Ambassador in 2023. Especially as I’ve been a day one Fujifilm user.

  • 12 month contract to set up and manage OgilvyOne London's new social content creative/editorial dept. This meant pitching and winning new business, hiring seven top notch social and editorial creatives, designing new processes to combine Ogilvy's strengths of incredible strategy and powerful creative with the faster, more responsive ways of working required of social creative. It involved working closely with project management, resource management, account management, business directors and senior clients. Having set up the dept I handed over to the permanent team who I'm proud to say are doing fantastically well.

  • Working with my creative partner we predominantly made social first activations and pitches for Dove.

  • I had a great time working at O2’s Headquarters. I was responsible for the Ideation, creation and implementation of the O2.co.uk’s digital Christmas activation.

O2 extended my contract and drafted me out to work on site with Adam and Eve agency. My role was creative oversight of the redesign of O2.co.uk.

  • Redesign of HSBC.com. In 8 weeks flat the whole of HSBC.com was redesigned from scratch. I was amongst a team of senior creative’s drafted in to make this happen.

In my role I predominantly worked on the Global navigation and Newsroom landing page, and being a responsive site, the designs had to consider desktop, tablet and Smartphone resolutions.

  • Headhunted for the role, after working so closely with Apple at my previous position.

I was involved in all of Samsung's digital activity in the UK, from the dot.com, social channels, sponsorship, experiential and retail. However my main focus and time was spent on social first campaigns. I was responsible for setting up a new digital creative department with social first at the heart and from the ground up. Bringing in new clients and helping move the agency into a central London location - which we did in 2011.

I worked closely with project management, resource management, account management, business directors, strategy and senior clients across the agency on a global level to bring innovation to every project with scope.

A highlight was, fortnightly presentations to senior management at Samsung HQ to educate and inspire a more digitally savvy client.

Further highlights included: Creating a fully interactive wrap for the flagship store in Startford, Westfields. Single handedly delivering an entire digital campaign for Samsung's Wave (from a digital creative POV). As lead agency, I ran the whole 360 integrated campaign for Samsung Wave II, overseeing all PR, Social media and media planning agencies.

  • One agency was responsible for Samsung’s digital retail and experiential projects. I was responsible for overseeing in store screen visuals from ideation to execution. This opportunity allowed me to explore how social content could be realised IRL.

  • I started at Agency.com as a Rich media designer working on the T-Mobile account and eventually ended up working across all accounts as a creative lead.

I was fortunate enough to be able to work with some of the world's most well known brands.

My highlights at ACOM included working with Apple on their first microsite which was to be hosted outside of the apple.com environment. Excellent learning curve for me as we were entrusted with the Design and build, which really put us through our paces. Working around the clock with 3 senior clients in 3 different time zones, The project was signed off by Tim Cook, Steve also gave it the nod.

Ikea Lighting microsite. One of those dream projects where our concept was 110% realised and extremely well received by all. It was featured in Campaign & NMA.

Vertu.com, creating numerous rich digital campaigns (based on an existing ATL creative) for these 100K mobile phones.

Armani Hotels, Working together with John Rushworth at Pentagram as the brand guardian. I worked as creative lead to concept and create a super premium website for the luxury brand's first hotel and residences

  • A dream job straight out of my Degree show. I was responsible for creating rich media microsites for TV shows on the UK’s newest terrestrial Channel - ‘Five’.
